My boys,

When I was younger,

I thought courage belonged to fearless men.

Men who never doubted.

Never hesitated.

Never felt their hands shake.

Life has taught me something very different.

I have never met a courageous man who was not first afraid.

Fear is not the opposite of courage.

It is the place where courage is born.

The older I become...

The more I understand that courage is often very quiet.

It sounds less like,

"I am not afraid."

And more like,

"I will do what is right anyway."

I have learned that every meaningful chapter of my life began with uncertainty.

Starting a business.

Becoming a father.

Trusting after disappointment.

Forgiving after betrayal.

Choosing faith over certainty.

None of those moments arrived wrapped in confidence.

They arrived wrapped in questions.

Yet God has never asked us to understand everything before taking the first step.

He has only asked us to trust Him enough to take it.

There have been doors I was afraid to open.

Conversations I was afraid to have.

Dreams I was afraid to pursue.

Apologies I was afraid to make.

Looking back...

Almost every blessing in my life waited on the other side of a difficult decision.

Fear has a remarkable way of making tomorrow appear larger than God.

Do not believe it.

The same God who carried you yesterday...

Will meet you there, too.

I have also discovered that courage is contagious.

When one person stands...

Others find the strength to stand beside him.

That is why your courage has never belonged only to you.

Your children are watching.

Your friends are watching.

Your family is watching.

Someone will borrow hope from the way you walk through difficult seasons.

Walk well.

There is another kind of courage the world rarely notices.

The courage to remain gentle.

The courage to forgive.

The courage to admit,

"I was wrong."

The courage to ask for help.

The courage to pray when you have no answers.

The courage to keep believing after disappointment.

These victories rarely receive applause.

But Heaven sees every one.

God has taught me that courage is not measured by the size of the battle.

It is measured by the size of your obedience.

Sometimes courage means staying.

Sometimes it means leaving.

Sometimes it means speaking.

Sometimes it means remaining silent.

Wisdom teaches you which is required.

Courage gives you the strength to do it.

One day you will stand before a decision that changes your life.

No one else will be able to make it for you.

When that day comes...

Do not ask,

"What is easiest?"

Do not ask,

"What is safest?"

Ask,

"What is faithful?"

Then trust God with everything that follows.

Because the safest place a man can ever stand...

Is in the center of God's will.

Even when the road is difficult.

Even when the future is uncertain.

Even when fear whispers that you should turn back.

Take one more step.

Then another.

Then another.

One day you will look behind you...

And realize that what once felt impossible became possible simply because you kept walking with God.
