The Four You Can't Live Without — The Mind, a Backyard Brew story by R.Solace (Ryan Khalil)

My boys,

There are a lot of feelings you'll experience in life.

Some will come and go. Some will change over time.

Some will confuse you. Some will shape you.

But there are four…

You cannot live without.

And I didn't fully understand this until I had moments where one of them was missing.

The first—

Is trust.

Not just in others…

But in yourself.

Because if you don't trust your own judgment…

Your own voice…

Your own direction…

You'll always hesitate.

You'll always second-guess.

And life becomes uncertain in a way that's hard to move through.

Trust is what grounds you.

The second—

Is hope.

Hope is quiet.

It doesn't always feel strong…

But it's what keeps you going when things don't make sense.

It's what lets you believe that tomorrow can be better than today.

Without hope…

People stop trying.

The third—

Is courage.

And I've learned this the hard way…

Courage isn't about being fearless.

It's about moving forward even when you are afraid.

Even when you don't have all the answers.

Even when you're unsure of what's going to happen next.

Courage is what turns thought into action.

And the last—

Is belief.

Belief in something bigger than you.

Belief in your path.

Belief that what you're building matters.

Because without belief…

Everything starts to feel empty.

Disconnected.

Like you're just going through the motions.

And here's what I want you to understand:

These four—

They work together.

Trust gives you direction. Hope gives you endurance. Courage gives you movement. Belief gives you meaning.

And if one of them is missing…

You'll feel it.

So pay attention to that.

If you feel stuck— maybe you've lost trust.

If you feel tired— maybe you've lost hope.

If you feel frozen— maybe you need courage.

If you feel empty— maybe you've lost belief.

Find it again.

Build it again.

Protect it.

Because these aren't just feelings—

They're what carry you through life.

I love you.

— Baba

Question: Which one of these are you lacking right now… and what would change if you rebuilt it?

Moral: Life moves forward through trust, hope, courage, and belief—without them, you stand still.
